Need help with Breguet Type XX
My Type XX Breguet is no longer working. Breguet says I need to buy a brand new movement (cost: $4500) since some of the "bridges?" are broken and the movement that is currently in the watch is no longer manufactured. Because the movement is no longer available, they say my only option is to buy a new movement. This costs almost the same as a brand new watch.
What would you all suggest? I was hoping to get a non-working parts watch and use that to supply parts for my watch. Is this feasible? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction.
The movement they are selling to me is the 3800 ST 582.
Thank you for taking time to help.

That sounds pretty bad . . .

Why would the bridges be so damaged? I'm also surprised to hear that Breguet would require you to purchase a whole new movement. This sounds very odd. I don't understand this issue of the movement being discontinued and therefore you need to buy an entire...

No trauma to the watch. It was working fine one day and then all of a sudden stopped working. I am having Breguet send the watch back to me. Do any of you have any advice on where to go next? Any local watchmakers (NE USA) that people would recommend? Hop...
