I think what makes this piece unique and compelling is the proportional
relationship between the bezel and the dial. It allows the face to remain open without increasing the overall size.

Totally agreed.
I don't love the thick bezel look on the standard FF; here it looks very balanced like you say.
Both of them are great and have their place in the model line.
I think we'd be the lesser for it if we didn't have both!
