returned to AD for warranty repair/exchange

Nov 20, 2020,06:16 AM

Actually yesterday I had to return it for warranty repair or replacement.
It seems either the dial is wrongly printed (indexes at wrong position) or the minute pointer has an issue. The result is that when I set the watch at exactly x:00 hrs and then check after each 5mins (with an atomic clock) the pointer is never over the 5mins index (up to 30secs before or after). One can check exactly as the minute pointer serves a seconds pointer also.
Apart from this the time is difficult to set as when one sets the minute pointer and then pushes the crown in the pointer has a lag before it starts moving (checkable easily after one minute passes and it should supposedly again be over the index.)
Most annoying.

Hate that

I’ve had something similar before with an Omega watch. I hate it when you pay 10K for a watch from a top brand, and than their quality control doesn’t spit the misalignment of the markers and the hands. Hope they’ll fix it. Not only annoying they will ope...

It had me baffled for a while until I realized what the issue was....

And yes, this is one of the things, which really really is a PITA. Looking at a replacement at the moment, the intial reaction from the brand manager (not AD) was "this is normal". Normal my a*. This is absolutely unacceptable, whatever the cost of the wa...

I think your 2nd concern comes down to learning how to set it how you want it.

I'll admit, I am always a bit nutty in getting my minute hand perfectly aligned with a marker as the seconds hit 0. On some watches like my Ulysse Nardin Caliber 118, I basically set the minute hand precisely over a marker, and a minute later it is there ...

Maybe I do not fully understand the issue...

 By: shortys home : November 20th, 2020-09:29
... have you checked with the chrono running? Since the Air Command has no running seconds, are you sure it was an indication Problem and not an accuracy issue (not that this would be better necessarily)? When it comes to the lag after setting the time: h...

Not an accuracy problem

Henrik, This was the first thing tested. <1s It’s an indication issue no doubt. On each 5min interval the pointer is on a different position. Sometimes ahead, sometimes delayed sometimes right. Right side of dial worse then left. Looks like a new watch is...

Aah, I also understand it better now.

If the 12 is dead center at the top of the case, then it would seem there must be a printing problem with your dial. In any event, I hope it gets sorted out for you.

Sounds like a cannon pinion issue, not enough friction,

 By: sery.vlk : November 20th, 2020-14:39
which would be an easy fix for any good watchmaker. In my experience, every master watchmaker has a different - and strong - opinion what the right friction should be. Too bad if it doesn't match the watch owner's opinion... Your Air Command is a phantast...

I will!

Thx for your explanation

Sorry to know that, wish you can have a speedy replacement or fix.

Regarding the first issue, i.e. the minute hand not reach the exact marking on dial, I also found similar phenomenon on my other watches (e.g. the Patek regulator 5235G). In my case, the minute hand is spot on in 12 o'clock position (when second hand poin...

This must not be true

This is the first time I get this. And any dial print should take care of any parallax from the crystal. At 17k??? But I really think this is not the issue here.
