I'm one of the few people who really liked the Bathyscaphe from last year. especially in the blacked ceramicised titanium with the green nato strap. That was awesome. Not sure if it'll be very classic in the long-run, but it was an awesome looking watch that was subtle. The movement was deliciously finished with beautiful wide anglage (I daresay to Patek Philippe finishing quality) and topped with a blackened 22K gold rotor.
How could anyone not like that watch?
Apparently, the long-term 50 Fathoms fans are sometimes indifferent to the strange Bathyscaphe. Will it be a classic 50 Fathoms in the long run?
Yves Saint Laurent said, "Fashions fade, style is eternal."
Will its design be a modern fad or considered true "style" in twenty years?
Only time will tell, but I think time is on its side.
So far, I still prefer last year's simpler Bathyscaphe. But I look forward to seeing this latest iteration in the flesh and to see the movement finishing.
Thanks Nicolas for the photo! I know you are a true 50 Fathoms Fanatic!
