I went perusing vintage cars - things I really can't afford to buy. And if I can afford to buy it, I probably can't afford to maintain it!
But one can dream and peruse. Here are some highlights for you!
Our member Sham1 is buying himself a Bugatti. His Bugatti is a ”half sized" version, a faithful reproduction with an electric powertrain. This miniature Ferrari is of the same type by the same maker. And it is an electric miniature car. Like Sham1’s new toy, this car is not road legal.
Sir Sean Connery’s personal Aston Martin DB5. Sold for lower than expected. I assumed it would go for a high number. Had I known this one would go for so low, I would've done more research and analysis on this one.
This was a gorgeous Cadillac V16. I saw 3 of these V16 Pre-War Cadillacs at auction. They are glamorous, and most of them are significantly less expensive than other vehicles of their era like Packards, Rolls-Royce Phantom IIs, Mercedes 500K or 540K, and Maybach DS8s. A good bargain perhaps? I like pre-war era cars, the fenders and the fox nose are incredibly beautiful in my eyes. But I keep on telling myself I don’t really need to own one.
This Bugatti is one of the stars of the show.
A Volvo P1800! A favorite here on WPS!
Another incredible Jaguar with pedigree.
This was a nice grand touring Ferrari. Enzo personally didn’t believe in extremely wide cars, he thought that the weight balance shift was too overwhelming. So the cars he made in his prime weren't very wide.
Lamborghini Miuras are the things to own! If I could have any car at this year’s auction, it'd be this example at Bonhams. Whoever gets this car is getting a bargain, the condition of this car is top notch. Collector Grade. Perfect. Lots of records, receipts, and provenance.
The owner of this Lamborghini GT350 prepared a special binder with details on every aspect of the engine rebuild. What a machine. I was talking to someone who was considering a lesser quality vehicle, but considering how much a lesser quality vehicle would cost to buy and restore, he’d be better off buying this perfect one to begin with!
Gorgeous machines!
