Mercedes Benz G-clas / G-wagon / Geländewagen / W463

Hey guys,

I'm slowly looking out to buy a new car before the end of the year so I'm doing all my studywork right now. I was wondering if any of our members have got a Mercedes Benz G-class. If so, what's your experience with the car overall? Mine would be used as a daily driver.

I'm not looking for the AMG version, I'm living in Belgium and as you may know we're the country with the highest taxes. Next to that, the fuel prices are not the ones from the US... So I'm sure you guys understand.

I'm looking at a 270cdi, 400cdi or 320cdi. I've heard the 400cdi is a problematic engine?

What is your experience with this maginificent car? Any hints and/or tips? Anything special to look out for?

I've ridden in one for several miles, the ride was...luxuriously utilitarian. :-)

I think 320 CDI is the best choice ...

Roadtax will be around 760 Euros annually , unlike more than double for the 420 ... and the 320 is probably the best engine in terms of fuel consumption and trustfull ... . Don't go for the 270 as i remember my friend's ML 270 being quite a slow dog ... ....

Thanks guys! @bimbeano, that's exactly what I'd like to know, opinions about the 270cdi if it's too much underpowered or not So far the 320cdi seems to be worth the extra amount over the 270 and 400. Those are my conclusions as well, the thing is, I can't...

About the 458 Spyder...dayam! Awesome awesome suspension and drivetrain...the exhaust note is mindblowing at first but over time feels a bit too..." Engineered" - too tied in to throttle position...hmmm...
