Credit photos: ER Classic. Grey and red make an awesome combo. Which gives me some ideas for my Alpine... As for this Boxster, all is in the title. I would add that its 6 cylinders delivers 300 HP. Quite cool looking no? Best, Nicolas ...
It's gotta have a true double wishbone suspension set up in the front! Your Alpine has a double wishbone front and rear! Lamborghini has a double wishbone front and rear. As do most Aston Martins. Most Ferraris these days have the double wishbone front an...
Once you add more than 4 cylinders and reasonably priced you are in rarified air territory. To Patrick's point yes the suspension can be a bit crude but the engine and transmission more than makes up for it. A small gem of a car.
But on the track, you don't have great grip in every situation. A Porsche Cayenne with all the bells and whistles will be faster than this 2 door sports car in some corners on some tracks because of the amazing suspension on the Cayenne.
You're likely thinking of adding coil overs - which can be changed on a McPherson Strut suspension. I'm referring to the entire type and geometry of the suspension. For example, I cannot turn a Porsche 911 GT3 997.1-generation into a Double Wishbone.

and I absolutely love it. It's a touch understeery unless you brake right to the apex, but for a road car it handles well, has decent performance, is very comfortable, good-ish economy. My only issue with it is seeing traffic lights without craning my nec...
...but I drove a friend's Boxster (basic model) a few years ago and was seriously underwhelmed. It was really slow. I suppose I need more money for more horsepower...
.. and I had a go in a 991.2 GT3 .... I'd say he needs a GT4 RS as I was underwhelmed by the 7800 rpm 4 liter :-( ... very fast off course but there it stops.
Even 50 or 80 kilograms won't make a huge difference. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing to drive ! But the weight is quite high anyway, the 2 liter Cayman (manual) I tried is fabulous ... but not compared to an A110, in that case it doesn't shine anymo...
