i went over in 1983

you had to get to the steam packet ferry on liverpool terminal-they craned your bike onto the ferry and off you went bobbing along on the irish sea
luckily it was not rough-if it was it was terrible-so i was told as the ferry at that time had no stabilizers and rolled back and forth and up and down at the same time!!.
the racing was not as fast as it is today and alot less supported with minimal crowding.
the gooseneck was my favourite spot with only two!! other supporters.
you could see the rider at slow speed cranked over before accelerating out of the corner.
MAD SUNDAY-was the scariest part of the whole week for me-crazy and survived just.
there was a venue where billy connelly was the main attraction.
look at it now all commercialised and crowded and very very fast.
ah the good old days
