. . . in Ontario, with Jim McElreath at the wheel.  He started back in the pack but there were so many early retirements that only four other drivers were left on the final lap.

A few years ago I was posting here about the race when I made this chance discovery on YouTube.

Forward to 4' 15".  That's our '65 Dodge Dart in the parking lot sandwiched between an MG and a VW.

My dear Dr., not all Purists were asleep. Though today was a day of cooking for/delivereing to a friend recently post surgery, I managed to hear the start of the race, and the bewildering last ~40 laps. Whoa! The assured winner shoots himself in the foot!...

I'm not aware of any current champ car driver being an ambassador . . .

. . . for a manufacturer, Fred. The sport has dropped a few notches in prestige since the high water mark of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Who can name . . . . . . these four? Just about every guy in my high school could reel 'em off without a sweat. Art PS -...

. . . Mario Andretti. The kicker was #3: Don Prudhomme, aka The Snake. As for the chrono on A J's wrist, for my money it could be a Daytona. Foyt was associated with Rolex . . . . . . and there are images on the internet of him wearing Day-Dates. Art ...

Wonderful photo...

Yes, Mario and A.J. leapt off the page for me, but I needed help with the other two. You know… in the 50s/60s when I was a boy, each summer my family would drive eastward from SE Kansas to Rochester, NY to visit my mother's Sicilian family, passing throug...

It was truly an amazing ending to the race by Marcus.

To succed in keeping first position after the restart and over the line to take the win was impressive. Being in the lead at the restart was not an ideal position since those close behind can use the drag. Much like a bicycle race - you do not want to lea...

From Average to Glory

 By: le_chef : May 31st, 2022-15:09
Good for Ericsson to win this prestigious event! I think it shows that someone who Formula 1 experts considered to be an average at best driver can still win the big one. Frustrating for Dixon who should have won. I also thought Pato O’Ward was excellent ...
