An old boss of mine had one in the early 90’s and let me drive it. I was a fresh out of collage kid who grew up around nice cars but never a V12 Jaguar. At first the looks didn’t do it for me but the ride certainly did. The effortless power, loads of torque, and the hand of god pushing you forward with out so much as a raise of a single decibel in noise made for a strange sensation. While it didn’t feel like you were moving faster, the world visible from the windows certainly sped up. It made quite an impression on me. Over the years the look grew on me as well, while not as sexy as the E type or elegant as the XJ series, it has a style of its own. All of the above applies to a stock car. There were a few of these converted to a stick shift (Lynx, TWR, Driven Man) which changes the nature from a gentleman’s tourer to a boulevard bruiser. I had a chance to drive a 1993 6.0 converted to a stick with some other tasteful performance modifications (345 hp at rear wheels with 490 pound of torque)…left a long set of tire marks on the highway just dropping into third. Scared me
