Porsche

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-02:39
Good morning everyone 🙂 I am looking recently to Porsche 911, especially those from year 1990 and upwards. I am looking into manual shifts for the driving experience and that is my only criteria. Would you suggest me any model, let say max 50-60k eur with...

Some short experience

 By: VinnieD : April 29th, 2020-02:52
I have only briefly driven two models: - 3.2 cabrio from 1988 which is slightly older than you might want. Fun and light but would show its age today - 993: a very nice model with more ooomph. Has reached enviable status with the 'last air cooled' one (he...

Thank you very much...

3.2 from 1988: the look very nice, but to much 80s in the look. But they look nice indeed. 993: I like this design a lot. I agree with the prices. It will be difficult to finde a "nice" one for that price. 968: not an option for me l, purely from design p...

My advice is ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : April 29th, 2020-02:58
At this price point buy the newest car with a dealer service history and a Porsche warranty. Porsche continuously make small improvements so later cars tend to be better. Be careful with specification as the option list is long. Two wheel drive cars are l...

Meaning the 991 or 997?

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-03:04
996 is clearly out (for the look(. I just realized that 996 gt3 rs are very approachable .

991 ! ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : April 29th, 2020-03:23
If you want to use it regularly. Interior quality is a big improvement.

cool..... it goes in the right direction.....

So you would go for the 991 GTS RWD?

Very well noted I will add this to my top 3 thank you

996 a no go

 By: Weems@8 : April 29th, 2020-03:31
Agree. Ugly, and in my opinion Porsches biggest failure. Thats why i want a 997. Also that 996 with 997 nose kits. I can always see it done. Beside of that, the overall look is out of proportion. My favorite is the latest 991. I want a brand new with PDK....

are collectors item. Honestly, it are the best air-cooled.

I do not look at km rate

 By: Weems@8 : April 29th, 2020-04:50
I look first on price. After it i check if it is no import. Than the books must be 100% with Porsche dealer stamps. Sure, 1 million km i will skip. But if it drove 200.000km, and it always handled with care, why not?

you have a point here......

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-04:56
...but reason being 100k km with me is that i think the more km the car has the bigger the suffering for every single piece of the car, especially the body and the interior....

I fully agree with the Captain.

 By: Pretty Boy : April 29th, 2020-03:11
My advice, therefore, would be to go for a 997 (2nd generation) with full Porsche service history, ideally a Carrera S (no 4WD). GTS would be even better but I doubt that you will find a good one in your price range. 997s were substantially smaller than 9...

Me too

Hello Alberti, I am looking also for a Porsche 911. Honestly, i take also Cayman and Boxster into my search. The 911 i am looking for is the 997 and upwards. Opposite to you, i want tip tronic or PDK. Model Carrera RWD. The air cooled 993 is a big wish, a...

Take a drive in a good Cayman...

You can push it so hard before it snaps.

Thanks reply.... Which version of the 997?

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-04:18
Caymand an Boxster were never an option for me. What i do like and only to a certain extent is the GT4.

911

 By: Weems@8 : April 29th, 2020-04:43
Best Alberti, I think i must use a 911 regularly. Not only a car to take out on a Sunday. A 993 is such a Sunday 911. And to start, i think to to it with a 997 for daily use is perfect. Maybe it is better for me to go for a Cayman 2.7 or 3.2 with a replac...

Understand....

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-04:49
Actually i would not mind driving the 993 on a daily basis, if i did own one. I would enjoy every second. 997 is clearly a good everyday driver. with regards to boxster and cayman: i am sure they are good to driver, but never liked the design Regards Albe...

Cayman and Boxster

 By: Weems@8 : April 29th, 2020-04:57
Tastes differ. Not only a design car. The Cayman is the better 911, thanks to the mid engine. But do you consider a 928 transaxle? My opinion is the front engine is complex, and i always hesitate to the 928. The looks i like.

Absolutelly... :)

 By: @lberti : April 29th, 2020-05:23
With regards to the cayman: If i don't like the look, i usually don't even drive. I have to like it at first! 928: No, i have not and i must say it's a shame. you have a good point here. especially the 928 S. I am surprised how light this car is, with it'...

If you like the old school Porsche lightness and a modern car then you will love the 3.4l 996 C2 98/99

 By: SALMANPK : April 29th, 2020-06:25
you don't need to spend all that money to get a great 911 experience, 911s were never about big engines and big speed, the purity of it is in the lightness, handling in a small car. The 996 is the last one that gives you that experience. If you want the p...

Nice teaching. Looking behind the skin is often better, than fell in love with the outside. From my side i’d confess i like the Cayman and Boxster. Also from the years they had a 996 front. Maybe i must go to look for a 996. The boss when my father was wo...

I agree with your expert

The expert have the same, but in silver, because he like the first generation Audi TT. This picture i shoot when i visit a Porsche center to spot a 918 spyder. The spyder was already gone to the owner. GT3 cup. When i was on a car show in 1999, i saw a GT...

Depends on the driving dynamic you want

 By: bchankai : April 29th, 2020-06:24
Depending on how enthusiastically you are going to drive the car, that might help determine which model. By the other posts in this thread, it sounds to me like you’d prefer to stay in the “automatic rear wing” era of the 911. The 964 will have you be min...

 By: Weems@8 : April 29th, 2020-12:01
If my heart speaks, a 911 GT3 RS. But for daily use, speed limits are a torture for man and machine. A GT3 RS needs play ground. A Carrera rwd is just perfect. On the track, hire a GT3 RS for a race day is the best way. Otherwise, i can imagine a Cayman G...

there is no general answer

it depends on your goal I have had 964 (rs), 993 (targa and 450hp twin turbo), 996 (4S) and 997 (4GTS). The water cooled for in sum 2 years, the air cooled for 14 years. air cooled are for my purpose (real road feeling and demanding steering/driving) the ...

So many to choose from

 By: Arronax : April 29th, 2020-16:33
That being said I can echo what other people said. I had an 89 Carrera (the last 930) for several years and drove many of them until the 997. Sold it as my son couldn't fit in the back any more. They lost me after that, the cars got too big for my liking....
