The 8 is a very fine car, I don't see many of them on the road, one of the few models offered in coupe, convertible and even 4 door with a nice range of engines. You seem to be a few years ahead of me in your car-life process, there is some beauty in acceptance and redefining your requirements.

I briefly owned a 22 M4 Competition xDrive. Rocket fast, I managed 3.0 secs to 60 w my son in the car. Very much a luxury coupe. More recently, I flirted with the manual Z4. I like the size of the car and the older style dash.

Always like the look of the 8 series…

Funnily, my work car park now has three 8s in it, as well as this one there's a black coupe and gran coupe. It's not even a big car park, maybe 60 cars.

Here's the inside. Black on black, which is 90% of BMWs around here is so dull, this is much better. Also has the crystal clarity pack, which is "cut glass" on the gear knob, the iDrive controller and the stereo on off. The motor is good, great even, but ...  

The interior reminds me of the M4.

"Tartufo" leather. I loved it. Favorite part of the car. Least favorite? The piped in engine noise. On the M4, it was absolutely nauseating. And the pity is the motor sounds damn fine on its own. Dreadful decision by BMW, IMO. Sadly, I see plenty of young...  

840i is great machine!

I'd even consider the 5 series, which is on a similar chassis. Great machine. Big congrats! This car has double wishbone front suspension when your Porsche did not! A very nice machine! Did you get AWD or RWD?

RWD. It's temperate here, and I appreciate the weight difference. I think it's nearly 200kg lighter than the 4WD V8.

I don't know where the car is, but I would always get a RWD if the weather allowed for it!
