I went perusing vintage cars - things I really can't afford to buy. And if I can afford to buy it, I probably can't afford to maintain it! But one can dream and peruse. Here are some highlights for you! Our member Sham1 is buying himself a Bugatti. His Bu...

Yes... So nice...

So many Porsches too. Lots of them in Peridot green and these other cool green colors. I never realized I liked light green so much as a car color. The P1800 was quite nice. The bargain looks to be the Lamborghini 350GT. The first car Lamborghini ever mad...

All gorgeous machines.

Thanks for this great post 🤗🙏🏻

I thought so...

I'm heading to bed and will be telling myself I don't need more beautiful things! And beautiful things need to be very well cared for.

Slightly larger Patrick!

That Testa Rossa J in your photo and the Baby Bugatti ll are actually 75% the size of the original. If it was 50%, getting in would be impossible! ...

Ahh! Right!

That Bugatti is so nice...

I think so too!

But I am biased!!

It also means the heart has taken over

the decision making process and that can be very dangerous and expensive!!

So I try to stay away from car and boat shows

due to poor discipline and non existent willpower!

Good idea!

 By: patrick_y : August 20th, 2022-07:49
Fortunately, I have mostly good discipline, since I know myself and I know I will one day complain about the running costs... Besides, you never really own these things, you merely take care of it until it goes to the next owner.

You're most welcome! Thank you for reading and commenting!

Don't miss the beautiful 350GT. That one was even more stunning in person!

Remember

seeing a Lamborghini Miura as a child on German Autobahn, on vacation with my parents and brothers. Must have been second half of the 1970ies. It was a yellow one and I was immediately sold. It looked as if it where out of this world. One of the most impr...

Wow! I've never seen one on the road.

Although there is a yellow one that's on the streets of San Francisco that belongs to an acquaintance. Not that I've ever seen it being driven. It's amazing how something can make an impression that we remember decades later.

Yes, it is amazing

I mean, it’s been more than 4 decades ago. Actually almost 5, but that sounds too long ago, makes me too much aware of time flying 😉

Well. I gave it a long last look at it today.

I saw the car being auctioned today. And it went to a wonderful new home.

Good to know.

Awesome report Pat. How much did the DB5 go for? Less than the recently-issued bond versions

 By: Lankysudanese : August 19th, 2022-11:52
. I believe those were being offered for 25M GBP

Hammered at $2.2M plus buyer's premium.

 By: patrick_y : August 19th, 2022-13:55
Which I thought was a little low for a DB5 with that provenance. Had I known it was going to go that low, I would've done more research. As I'm a bit of a Sean Connery fan. Admittedly.

Yes! Aston Martin DB5s have varied widely in value, but only a few years ago, they'd consistently bring in around $2M.

And I thought that this one would bring in a little more considering the provenance.

I don't disagree!

We were at the PB event a few years ago...

 By: mdg : August 19th, 2022-16:18
...highly recommended for car buffs. The number 22 car in the top photo reminded me that many of the old-school race cars were TINY.

I've been going since before I could drive!

 By: patrick_y : August 20th, 2022-07:53
Always enjoyed it very much!

Oh, the Miura! But several questions…

 By: RabidManatee : August 20th, 2022-01:38
Miura, S, or SV (guessing not an SV due to lack of “eye lashes”)? Original color? Restoration record? So much to look out for. But not as bad as vintage Porsche Carreras… or vintage Rolex🤨? Lovely cars I can’t afford in any case. Thanks for sharing. Edit:...

Miura S

 By: patrick_y : August 20th, 2022-07:47
Not an original color of the car, but it is an original Lamborghini color. But the car was repainted in a color change sometime in its life. But changed to an official Lamborghini color. Restoration record is impeccable. This one is a Miura S, not the SV....
