Could be, but...

At face value this argument may seem reasonable but I’m not sure I agree.

“They keep the dial, hands etc whatever part they replace they will keep”

But how’s about this:

- if I buy a Patek then the entire watch including any part in it is my property. I can do with it what I want

- if I sent it in for service to Patek, and they make me pay for new parts, the old parts are still my property.

- they could request me to leave the old parts with them in which case the value should be deducted from the service fee

- or alternatively, if the new parts are, as sometimes is claimed, already included in the fee then I should be allowed to forego that discount and get the old parts back

As consumer we should have the right to chose if we want old parts back or not. A manufacturer who is blocking such a basic choice, in my view is overly protective which typically is sign of being overly concerned with protecting their position

Not saying such manufacturers are weak, but just few decades behind in how they deal with clients.

Apologies long reply but I simply am allergic to corporates deciding for me if they can keep parts I paid or not.

Does AP allow to keep the dial if you want to when a service is made?

Some companys say the dial has to be changed at some point. I guess AP is customer-friendly here, hm?

No, they kept it alas. [nt]

Why is that?

 By: Jurry : January 12th, 2020-00:17
I’ve heard it more often that some firms keep the old dial after replacement. But why is that? After all, who’s dial is it? You’ve paid for the watch, it’s yours, you want dial replaced and you should, if so desired, get the old dial back. Bit strange AP ...
