...as in the AP service centre for the Swiss market, not the AP Brassus, will deduct a certain amount (which 'theoretically' corresponds to a very approximate 'market' value) for the gold or precious metal in larger parts, for example a bracelet or buckle or bezel, off the final price quoted for the service. I know this for a fact. I cannot speak for other AP or other brand service centres. However I don't think the tiny amount of gold in the eight hexagonal screws, for eg. would be worth it. For things like an original dial/hands all the client has to do is to ask, and in most cases they will be returned with the watch. Again I can only speak for AP Swtzerland where I have previously worked, and say 'in most cases', as unfortunately human error sometimes prevents this happening. However, ALL parts, even o-rings etc, replaced on an AP watch, are usually kept for a period of at least 1 year, in case claims are made by a client regading replaced pieces, and can be dug out and sent to the client or AD. I guess each service centre has their own policies regarding this. But if you don't ask I don't think you can expect to receive replaced parts back, as it comews down to extra time and cost in the long run...extra packaging and handling at the workshop, even if a small amount per watch...
