Dilemma ...

 

Dear all forum participants:

I will have a chance to purchase a Lange Dato RG/Black Dial or a PP 5110p at a nice price.  I can't buy both because I can't afford both at the same time.  I like the Dato because it is an icon from the House of A Lange.  I also like the RG/Black Dial combo because it is rarer.  I havent' seen one in flesh but I will get a chance to try it on before I decide.  I like the 5110p because it is a watch that I can use when I travel around the globe.  My work brings me to Europe, Asia, and across the US.  It is also the most powerful world timer in the market.  I prefer the platinum version because it is a white metal watch with a blue center dial (looks pretty and better than the WG, which to me is too bland).  I will also have a chance to try it on before I buy.  Right now, I am torn between the 2.

I want to hear your thoughts.  I know I am the one who will ultmately make the decision but I still want to hear others think. 

BTW, can anyone educate me why there is a premium of the 5130p over the 5110p?  They are essentially the same watch.  Thanks.

First, but you already know it, both are great watch. I would suggest to choose: the fav complication (chronograph or WT ?) the size (37 or 39) the type of caliber (hw or automatic). Make your choice with the use of the watch you think you will get. About...

I still do not see the justification for the premium given the 3 differences you mentioned about the 5130p. :-(

An extra interest for the 5130 ? Because you know, I think it's more a 50/50 story. Some prefer the larger size and the hands of the 5130, some prefer the more balanced dial and the guillochage of the 5110. Fr.Xavier

I meant why the 5130p is more expensive than the 5110p even though they are essentially the same with minor design differences. Do the design differences justify the price differences? Or is it something else? Thanks.

the price, It's about love at first sight, and for my taste, Datograph is a must have. You don't buy a good product, you buy a madness. If you travel often, it's obvious that you need a world time... Because a Chronograph, except you cook pasta, is not ve...

They are excellent pictures. Thanks. The 5110 looks almost the same size as the 5130 even though it is 2 mm smaller? What size of wrist do you have? May I ask which one of the 3 is your favorite? Cheers

I don't own a Datograph but an 1815 chronograph. I love both the Patek and the Lange, they are so different, it is impossible to compare them... Fr.Xavier
