my overall impression compared with my previous disappointed post hasn t changed much but a little.
The reason is that my look on horology and Lange specially is always very personal.
I cannot detach from the fact that I must like a watch very much ,xo much I wouls like to own it in order to appreciate it.Nothing this year that I would like to wish it was mine.
A more objective look makes all my judgement mellow down a bit:
PLM:fantastic Lange craftmanship no doubt ,but dial too cold and graphic to "thin",,,a bit too fragile looking epecially the PT version.Would have been much better with solid dial ,understated tourbillon view from the back,no moving dial that I still find a bit "gimmicky".
Saxonia:well not for me ,too austere and non descriptive but great new declinations, perfecly executed from Lange. Some gaps were filled(thin watch)and new calibers were created. The line has its own target and audience and I think it will be a good seller for Lange.
ZW:still doesn t move me at all:I appreciate that its the first step so well done Lange.Leaves me a bit indifferent ...not a complication that excites me,plus the increase in size makes it a bit too bulky. When I saw it in Geneva i remember thinking its not too bad afterall..but only because i am always in awe when I see a ZW,,,,and without the gongs and hammers it òooks exacly like my fav Lange.
Lange did this year what they need to do ,delivered quality and expertise above all the others. The fact that its not for me doesn t mean my love and appreciaton for the brand diminishes or fades.
Well done FX ,great report!
