Lange 1 or Saxonia Automatik?

I have been following this Forum with interest for a while and would now like to seek advice from Lange afficionados:

I intend to buy my first Lange watch, but I'm torn between the new Saxonia Automatik (2015 model) and a used Lange 1 (101.027 from 1998). I find both very appealing and the price would be roughly the same. I would wear it as a dress watch with a suit (almost) every day.

Which would you recommend, also considering reliability (old vs. new), service costs, resale value and the likely long-term pleasure?

Go directly to the Lange One. It is an icon. And nothing can replace the pleasure to wind the watch everyday. I consider that a first Lange has to be a handwind watch. Don't hesitate to come back to us with your final decision! Fx

How often does the Lange 1 need to be serviced according to your experience? Really every 3-5 years as recommended by Lange?

Normally I think 5 years is good

Also depends how often you wear it. If daily, then maybe 3 to 5 years. If rotated and worn very infrequently, my more experienced collector friends say can even stretch to 6 to 7 years (some of them wear a Lange once in 2 weeks or even less frequently). C...

with a preference probably for the Lange 1. Another reason for the L1 might be that I already have a JCL MUT 38,5mm which has certain similarities to the Saxonia Automatik.
