A. Lange & Söhne

I have the Saxonia Automatic 380.026

 

For about 12 years. It’s an awesome watch, understated but oozes quality like all Lange watches do. I have no regrets.

Many in the community would say that it isn’t the first choice for an entry level Lange given it is too austere/simple. Also many people prefer the manual wind of the 1815 family or Lange 1 or Richard Lange to the automatic wind…which could be solved by getting the Saxonia manual wind in 36mm. The 38.5mm dial is perfectly symmetrical and perfectly sized IMO.

I think many people if you asked them to pick only 1 Lange, the Saxonia wouldn’t be in their Top 5 or even 10.

The Patrimony (have never handled one) is one of the more iconic VCs so it would probably be in the top 3 or 5 if you wanted to get a Vacheron

But at the end of the day I wanted a Lange…if I got a VC…I would just be thinking I wish it was a Lange.

I like the WG on a dark brown strap vs the black strap.

Would appreciate any input about this watch. Know very little about this brand except that it is ranked amongst the best watch manufacturer. I am looking for a WG dress watch that can be dress down too (I am a retiree now). 38mm is probably the max for my...

a decade ago, I had a similar dilemma but with the 1815 up down and VC traditionelle small sec - both in wg. I couldn’t make up my mind as I liked both, but I was always seeing them apart at different AD’s. Until one time an AD had both pieces and it was ...

I will heed your advise and try to see them both side-by-side. May not be possible though now a days since both brands are boutiques only where I am.

Have a similar pleasant dilemma

But it's between two Langes. The watch you mentioned 380.027 is a gorgeous piece in my opinion. You really can't go wrong with either. 38.5mm is a very nice size.
