As usual, torn between Lange and Patek...
These are by far my two favorite brands. I can share a bit my thoughts if you will allow me. I own two of each: a Lange 1 TZ in platinum and the Triple Split and a Patek 5270p (salmon dial) and a Nautilus 5990. Each of these pieces have very, very different characters. When it came to choosing a PC chrono, though, I gave a slight edge to the 5270. I think it is slightly more elegant. The case design of the Langes are simply amazing on a pure chrono (Dato, Double or Triple Split) or, say, a Zeitwerk, but feels a bit too industrial for the elegance of the perpetual calendar.
In any case, the Dato perpetual is a lovely watch and you can’t go wrong with it I think. There is a very good comparison on YouTube done by Watchfinder that I recommend: https://youtu.be/LeWON9fL6iM. Very detailed and interesting. Best of luck!

A mechanical marvel, for sure, but I’ve never felt that Lange got the aesthetics right. The Patek PCCs are IMO better designed if not as mechanically impressive. Cheers, John

It is in the three best PC Chronographs, along with the Patek 5970 and the Vacheron Excellence Platinum.

Better, no, if you focus on the movement decoration and finishings. Now, as for the charm, which is subjective, I would say that the Lange is a Mercedes, while the two others are Aston.
One is clinical, the others are more... romantic?

I agree that the legibility of the Month and Days indicators are a bit harder compared to PP5270. Yet; there's a reason for that in particular for Lange's design language. Although the aesthetical application is purely subjective, I appreciate the thought...

You have certainly made me understand the reason behind the Dato Perp’s “complicated” dial. Lange has always been about symmetry and their uniqueness compared to their Swiss counterparts. And I agree that the grey dial is a killer!
