An interesting 3-for-1 proposition

Jun 01, 2022,02:54 AM

Hello friends, hope you are well!

I have been offered, from a reputable source, a WG ALS 1815 38.5 mm for well under market price. I would need to part with my 38.5 mm RG JLC Master Thin (which I adore), 36 mm Rolex OP (which I have been planning on moving) and 41 mm Omega 2254 (which I also adore).

Several years ago, I owned this ALS 1815, (both in RG and WG) and foolishly sold them to chase something else. That being said, I do prefer the RG version to the WG version that is being offered to me.

If I made this trade, I’d be left with Sub, Tudor BB58 blue and the ALS. Which to be honest , would make a fine trio. Plans to add 38 mm GP Laureato would need to wait, lol.

From my research, Lange’s can be tough to find these days, especially under these circumstances. Of course we can all appreciate how special they are… Personally, I believe they are otherworldly…

So, given this opportunity, would you bite?

Thanks for reading!

That’s a lovely Lange. But sell two watches you adore for a WG version of a watch you prefer in RG?

Perhaps keep searching for a similar deal for the 1815 in rose?

Interesting that our preference is the RG version...

Having offered my RG 1815 Up & Down I've found most prefer the steel blue sweeps in the YG and WG versions. Different strokes for different folks

If you have to ask someone if you should do it, that basically means you're not convinced. And if you're not convinced, then you probably shouldn't do it. Just that simple. If you were certain you should do it, you wouldn't ask...

Perhaps the moral of the story is

just because it’s a “good deal,” doesn’t mean it will make me happy. Thanks again for weighing in, and talking me off this ledge for now 😂 Will most likely wait for a RG 1815, or simply be content with my RG JLC 👍🏻

Agreed pinnacle of German horology

Which is why I considered in the first place!

No doubt 1815 is a stunning reference

Having said that, I feel except the 36 OP you’re still in love with all what you’ve. If you’re not sure, avoid future regrets.

RG version

Nevermind edited, noticed you are from US so my suggestion irrelevant.

To me, it sounds like you are doing it simply because it's a ALS, not because you love THAT ALS...

You are giving up two watches you adore for a watch that you preffer another version of. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the romance of a good brand and it can cloud our judgment.

+1

You can always buy back any of those three. You can also find new love that have those 3's characters.

Enabler! 🚨
