Again, not an owner, but my impressions...
Fred, I know one individual (and many individuals who wear the Patek Philippe equivalent model 3970 and 5970 daily) who wears this watch as his daily watch and he wears it every day and finds it very practical, useful, and enjoyable.
The Gentleman enjoys winding the watch daily; almost never uses the chronograph, but doesn't leave the chronograph in the reset position all the time either; he has gotten a very few compliments on the watch from individuals who have no idea what it is in the past few four or so years of ownership.
The Gentleman wears barrel cuffed shirts every week-day and doesn't have any problem with the thickness nor weight of the watch. He does have another thinner and simpler watch for more formal occasions and never wears the Datograph Perpetual for any occasion more formal than business formal. The watch is sometimes worn in extremely casual settings as well; such as traveling, in jeans, at the race track, etc.
The Gentleman finds the watch easy to use and uses it daily, and has never put the watch down for more than three days. He finds the accuracy to be "good" and finds the display to be "legible enough" for practical purposes. While he has other watches in his collection (including other choice Langes) he affirms that the Datograph Perpetual is usually worn five days a week and is considered to be his daily watch.
Hope this helps Fred. Enjoy your new watch when you get it!
