A. Lange & Söhne

Never loved the Cab Tourb much either, because of the segregated dial and the size.

Look at the top half of the dial. You see rectangles within rectangles (mostly the date window frame, and also the HG lines near the dial edge). All straight lines. Looks like nice kitchen cabinets.

Now look down south. We just left the kitchen and entered the garage, which is messier. The lower half of the dial is crammed with too many circular elements. Between the subdials, the tourbillon aperture, the balance, the chaton, the various screws, etc., there are a million round things there. Circles within circles within circles may work fine with a round case, but it looks odd to me with a rectangular case, especially when the elements are segregated like this. It's like a mash-up gone awry.

Also, the truncated "III" and "IX" numerals bother me here, whereas they don't bother me so much on other models like the 1815 Up/Down. Maybe that's because they make me think all those circles down below are scratching and biting and clawing upwards, trying to escape from their confinement and make their way up to greener (grayer) pastures, where there's more space. They managed to eat the diamond markers at IV and XIII, and next they took a chunk out of the III and the IX. I fear for what's next! Will they come for the Big Date window?!
