I did the same thing...

Excellent post and pictures.  I have the exact same model (as well as the same JLC GT in steel -- you have great taste), and did almost the same thing you did.  I went with a friend to a jeweler/AD to help him buy an "entry level" watch.  There in the case was a pre-owned rose gold Cabaret from 2008, full box and papers.  That was it.  I think it's one of the most beautiful, elegant watches ever.  It runs well, a bit fast but within specs, and I haven't had to service it yet.  Doesn't appear to have been worn much though it's not pristine.  Congrats on yours and enjoy.  I'd post a pic but don't have one handy unfortunately.

Time for a Cabaret...

 By: nm1213 : January 9th, 2017-04:09
I'm not sure why the Cabaret isn't more popular. Saw this one, and instantly fell in love. It had never been serviced, and was scratched, dinged, dented, the movement discoloured, and was gaining 30 seconds a day. I still bought it without hesitation, vis...

Putting it side-by-side with a Reverso is such an interesting comparison

Never thought they'd be about the same size and form! One of the magical things about the cabaret is the illusion of how they manage to cram in a bigdate into such a narrow, rectangular case...The shaped movement is also something very unique that you don...

Things that I love...

I find that the Cabaret wears a bit bigger than the Grande Taille, mainly because of a taller dial. I also love that the top case and crystal are slightly convex. Finally the big date is symmetrical, and frankly fits better on the Cabaret than on a Lange ...

Personally, I think it's a great piece.

Especially the moon phase variant with big date. I love the lines of this watch, and it comes in all the dial variations you'd expect from ALS. Fortunately, they seem readily available on the secondary market...and reasonably priced.

The used market...

The great thing about buying used is the confidence that Lange is able to restore things back to new. This watch is just about 17 years old, and until now had never been serviced. It wasn't babied either. I can now make my own scratches!

Really nice, enjoy! [nt]

Great to know

that Lange has done such an outstanding job. Given my recent poor experience with PP service I am thinking of purchasing a Lange and it is nice to hear stories like yours where the service is of a high standard. The watch looks great.

It's an almost forgotten watch.

It stands up well to the Reverso, the Tank, The GP Vintage 45. Great catch.

Congrats on your beautiful new-old watch! The Cabaret...

... was never a big seller back when it was in current production. I always attributed that to the generally lower demand/interest in rectangular watches -- nothing more than that, and certainly nothing specifically negative about the Cabaret itself. As o...

Such a elegant watch!

Beautiful! Congrats! Best Blomman

Eight months is a bit long, but considering all the work required to bring the watch

back to its full glory, I think it's acceptable. And I feel so glad for you to continue the love affair with the watch. On a side note, that sky blue strap on the Reverso GT looks fantastic! I need to get one for my Reverso GT. It totally changed the look...

Yeah, 8 months is way too long. Supposedly...

... Lange will put more effort into reducing the turnaround time for servicing in Glashutte. That's what we've heard in the last few years. We'll see!

I sent my simple 1815 time only small seconds for service; the turnaround time is 6 months!

 By: Luis6 : January 10th, 2017-15:15
And it was only a Taipei - HK return trip, not to Glashutte. So I guess the effort to reduce turnaround time has not been enough, from a customer's point of view.

Mine first went to HK for 2 months...

HK to get checked, even though the boutique said HK will only service current models. Then 6 months in Germany. The wait was worth it!

A friend has a very special LE created for the Lange Owners Group. I\'m hoping he will post a pic here, Steve... I also wonder whether you could add a calendar/moon phase functions to this model as JLC have done with the Reverso Tribute Calendar? Admitted...

... was the first watch that came to mind. If you type "cabaret LOG" into the search bar here, you'll see several pics, and here's a post containing some pics too (WG/gray dial, limited to 25). Lange made this LE for the "Lange Owners Group," spearheaded ...

The Lange is so classy, the Reverso, while beautiful, is common.

What about this pair.
