A pure classic
This first version of the Datograph Perpetual, with its roman numerals is a pure classic. A watch that deserves greater appreciation, but sadly still remains a hidden gem.
The unique corrector at 10’0 clock is a robust mechanism that makes the adjustment of the date function easy and safe.
Fabulously engineered and hand-finished caliber that is miles ahead of some of the hyped up brands, is a joy to behold.
IMHO this first version has more character than the subsequent one where the roman numerals were replaced by stick markers.
Truly a collector’s grail.

I feel very blessed to be able to land this one after a long hunt. The dial combination with the roman numerals spoke to me too, and I knew I have to have it!
That gray strap would look good on just about any white metal watch! Curious about the Delugs buckle...
Do you like it more than the Lange buckle? Or did the Delugs buckle just come with the strap so it was easier to leave it alone (for now)?
To be honest, I was lazy to swap it out with the original deployant, which is mounted on the grey strap.
Having said that, the Delugs buckle is definitely doing its job, though I take extra care when taking the watch off.
My friend, you have no idea how inspired I was by the superb pairing of your original Datograph with the orange saffiano!

Is too thin for my taste. I think the padded looks great and holds up to the thicker cases of the Datograph
I totally agree with you on this.
With a thickness of 13.5mm, it doesn't make sense to go for their slim line straps. Thankfully, the padded signature straps holds up nicely with a thickness of approximately 4.5mm.
I just changed out my OEM deployant
Onto my new JR strap; and it is no big deal. You have to take out the pin that holds the deployant onto the strap. As you may know; Lange uses the same size strap for both pin buckle and deployant clasps. I have confirmed this for the single fold deployan...
