Dear friends, I just notice (on the papers) that during the 2 previous servicing of my Lange 1815 in gold (at the manufacture) the case was polished. I don't like this very much as it "removes matter". Would you feel concerned ? Best ...  

but I think this is not a concern. My goldsmith told me once when I brought my gold rings for polishing and posed him same question that it will take very very long time i.e. lot and lot of polishing to remove enough matter to be visible by eye Best Damja... 

Deep scratches will possibly require a material loss of 0.5 - 1 mm. Very deep ones and indentations even more, of course. Just a fine polish, without making the scratches even, will "cost" the case only a few mikro meter of substance. Fine, or end polishi... 

Actually, Lange fills in the deep scratches using a laser welding technique, so even deep scratches will not result in the loss of significant material. They will simply fill in the scratch and then polish as normal to remove only a few microns. This is w... 

I have not the price for polishing in mind but as I recall it was not excessive. Laser welding is quite time consuming as it can be done only punctually, that means tiny little spot by spot as the laser focus is just a few tenth of a mm in diameter. That ...
