The general point is that *lots* of companies finish their watches as well as - or better - than Patek Philippe for a similar price or for less. PP extracts a premium from customers for reasons other than quality.

This isn't the end of the world, though. Good movement finishing is important and a sign of prowess, but it's not everything. The overall composition of a watch matters a great deal more. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
In this respect, Patek Philippe watches are typically classical in composition. Yes they're conservative, and possibly boring to some, but overall they can still be the epitome of beauty in the eyes of many of us.

your watch is beautiful, so don't take it to heart when I say you are quite bad at photographing it .... Both shots are out of focus and blurry, they do the watch and its movement a disservice . Cheers, Filip
Must be my eyes.

Tell me honestly if these are any better. ...
I agree with this viewpoint

This is spot on. While the Vaucher micro-rotor caliber is rather high-end, it's prestige has been diluted by how much this caliber has been used by other brands. There's even a higher-grade version with 4 hand-finished interior angles that Parmigiani does...
I would phrase it differently…

The Tonda is surely an absolute feast for the eyes in the metal. Your pics are a great attempt to share it and we thank you for it. I shall be delighted to make a nice photo shooting for this beautiful watch next time you come to Paris my friend, don’t fo...

I think this is the right answer.

Movement finishing is a piece of the puzzle. In some watches a bigger piece (as in, the movement finishing is more "The Point of the Watch") in others smaller. Patek in general, it seems to me, regards it as a smaller piece than many of our beloved small ...
You say it very well

I agree 100%. I‘m a big fan of PF and I think they do an incredible job in trrms of inhouse manufacturing, finishing, and overall quality. Do I prefer PF over PP? No I don’t. I think the two brands cater to different aspects of my passion. Both make excep...
Parmigiani is at a very high level.

Here a couple of shots also from my Tonda 1950 : In terms of finishing this one compares well against my PP Calatrava 6119, ....although it is always hard to compare brands as everyone has its specific finishing style. Best, Gerard ...
Brilliant.

Will pick one up eventually, seems to be out of the collection at the moment but the last iteration with the larger logo was may favourite so far, perhaps maybe undergoing another design review... Lovely reference
Fantastic!

This is a watch that you can have several of and not feel like they overlap. I have 2 RGs-one with a charcoal dial and one with cream. They look quite different. You’re tempting me to look at WG case.
