Functionally I feel it is redundant with my smartphone
By: Gelato Monster : February 26th, 2021-03:29
If I want something versatile with battery I would always go with Gshock and its extra tactical toughness. The only think it adds different value is in health and sport. But in this scenario I choose garmin ruggedness

IMHO it is actually a sublime and calming moment when we look at our favorit watch while putting away all our gadget.
LOL

As many bag vs as many watch Or As many jewelry vs as many watch?
Never..... say never again?

Actually Never as a watch replacement. Isn't going to happen! But as a health monitoring device... different story. Problem being to have both wrists occupied and I just can help feeling weird and uncomfortable. So this is the dilemma currently. Apart fro...

Dear Manix, the best health monitoring "device" is yourself. Be alive, wake up, eat well, move around, love, cry and appreciate that your are able to do all these! If by then you do need a "monitoring device" then see a doctor. Cheers, Francois

Not convinced for a couple of reasons : 1. It is uncomfortable for me to have a “watch” on my right wrist for long periods of time 2. I kept forgetting to charge it every night 3. It was strange having the screen light up every time I moved my wrist and w...

Dont get me wrong it is a unique tech but in my case I would rather use the apple watch money to buy better smart phone biennial.

We should keep our minds open to all watches, even from the likes of Apple. Good call to post this one and have the discussion. Best regards The Captain

You must be curious about the Apple watch. The sin. Not forget other digital wrist devices which measure things. For us mechanical watches have a value that never can be beaten by anything else. When over 10 years thousands of Apple watches and other digi...

Just like a quartz watch with battery replacements every 3 to 4 years. What is the life expectancy of a quartz watch when mechanical watches will last for over 100 years? What is the life expectancy of an Apple watch? What is the life expectancy of an iPh...
I wear either an Apple Watch or Garmin daily.

Since we’ve been home it’s almost exclusively one or the other of these on the wrist as I tend not to wear a mechanical watch at home. For me the Garmin is a workout tool, it has functionality the Apple doesn’t. The Apple Watch is a replacement for my pho...

By: mahesh : February 26th, 2021-05:17
i also prefer if Apple watch is more a 'band or bracelet' without screen still capture health inputs - would be cool isn't it ?! it will allow to put our mechanical watch on the wrist too. thanks for chiming in !

It’s a computer that you wear on your wrist. I think it’s a matter of time before mechanical watchmakers start building that kind of technology into the bracelet part of the watch so that people can have both I’m kind of surprised they haven’t done it or ...
Actually, I think so..

A small Bluetooth touch device where the clasp is...maybe solar...just enough...heart rate location etc...best of both worlds automatic reliability data connectivity...especially for sport watches.
For some the need exists for others it's ownership of technology.

I personally don't have the need as I am connected as I want to be. When my CEO sent a Blackberry to my office for me to use, all I could imagine was more work on weekends so I politely turned it down. My peers thought I was crazy because this was the sig...

some days i wonder i'll get back to a 3310...no battery issues, no breaking issues & works the best for calling - the only trouble is wristshots ;-)
Nope - if you like it wear it
By: jml_watches : February 26th, 2021-08:33
There's always your other wrist for a watch rather than a mini computer. I've seen plenty of people do that. I just wear to watches at once - mainly as I have too many! Cheers JML

i was walking thro' last week on the streets & quite strikingly i saw almost 7/10 ppl had it on the wrist...of course they're younger & we're wiser ;-) that is what triggered my thought...still i'm loyal to mechanical watches
I think the Apple 'Watch' is an amazing machine
By: Geo : February 26th, 2021-10:24
Apple did an amazing job; the case, the way the straps can be changed, their steel bracelet, and the various dials are all great features. I double-wrist not often but do wear the watch often in the gym and during walks. Loaded with about 15 CD's and conn...

it seems on the sports/activity tracking few people switch to apple watch & come back to mechanical marvels for all other occasions. there are almost not many who double wrist ! hope to see you in next GTG...once things become normal. cdt, mahesh.,
