WristScan for the 6th of July - Travel Time - starts now!

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-09:31
As mentioned in the earlier thread, this week’s WS theme is Travel Time. So any kind of watch you regularly travel with, for work, for fun... Be it a world timer, GMT, diver or elegant two hand dress piece. So let’s see what one will be able to see at the...

Only one legit travel watch in my collection . . .

By: Dr No : July 5th, 2018-10:52
. . . but not much of a traveler. Unless there's a Purists gathering or a Stones show, of course - then I'm all in! Art ...

Now that’s a truly fantastic one!

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-11:22
Definitely an Omega high on my to get list. Any watch with a DC-8 on the back is cool

You knew . . .

By: Dr No : July 5th, 2018-13:53
. . . this was coming. Btw, 170K? The party starts now ;-) . . .

Truly obscure trivia: . . .

By: Dr No : July 7th, 2018-17:36
. . . It's Only Rock 'n Roll (but I like it) is the only Stones studio track that Charlie doesn't play on. Kenny Jones handled percussion. Stoned, Art

A good portion of . . .

By: Dr No : July 9th, 2018-10:32
. . . Exile on Main Street has never been performed live by the Stones. Soul Survivor , Casino Boogie , and most depressingly, I Just Want to See His Face , have never been performed on stage. Mick Taylor had a hand in all of them, so it's not likely they...

Ok, here we are...

By: amanico : July 5th, 2018-11:03
Rolex GMT MASTERS: Patek World Time 5110P: Ulysse Nardin Sonata, yes, yes, it is also a GMT watch! And now, in my dreams: Jaeger Lecoultre Duometre UTT: Or / and Geophysic Universal Time: Girard Perregaux WW TC: Audemars Piguet Metropolis: Well... The lis...

Wow!

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-11:24
Didn’t know you owned a platinum Metropolis - truly thoroughly superb! Not that any of the others are anything than great Happy travels!

You know!

By: TheMadDruid : July 5th, 2018-11:51
Just unfair. You're trying to beat Joe before he even doesn't enter. Put those watches back in the box!

Ahh Nicolas! A Superb post! A fabulous way of celebrating your 170K record my friend! Congrats!...

By: Subexplorer : July 6th, 2018-13:41
... I knew these superb watches were coming from you! All in fabulous pictures!! No doubt are some winners here!! All inspiring shots! Hagwe my dear friend! Abrazos desde las Pampas! Abel

Don’t shoot me

By: Geo : July 5th, 2018-11:38
This is probably my worst entry ever. But it’s true, when I travel, this Apple ‘Wrist Device’, is what I am wearing and my watch is in my bag. I find it very usable and fun to use, it even hold my boarding cards. Have a great weekend gents and don’t kick ...

No watches on your other wrist, either?

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-22:38
Can certainly understand the practicality aspect, plus it makes one less conspicuous, too

Thanks a lot, Padj!

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-22:39
It is indeed - was my grail GS, and the love is certainly not diminished since I got it

Where’s the mule picture?

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-22:40
The watch is great, as are the Swedish stones but what I really want to see is the watch worn on top of a mule

Well.. Let me see, how to play this week..

By: hs111 : July 5th, 2018-12:50
Ok, so here are some few: GP GMT, Gde Date, Moonphase - a great cool companion The Reverso GMT is a versatile choice I often take with me.. JLC Geophysic Universal Time - a superb World Time but almost a bit too fancy.. & this one just is a real GADA ...

Superb travel collection, HS111!

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-22:42
And great pictures of it too. Cannot agree more on the GADA nature of the ABR, too.

Thanks a lot, HS!

By: KMII : July 6th, 2018-08:37
Holidays just about to begin tomorrow and both my wife and I really need them

Great post dear friend HS! The only problem with your selection of travel watches is...

By: Subexplorer : July 8th, 2018-06:34
... How you do to chose just one of them to wear on the wrist when you actually go traveling! Any of them is most suitable and attractive. A tough choice to make... Unless you take a watch roll with you! Lol! Have a beautiful week end my friend! Abel

Thx for kind looking, dear Abel !.. Well, in fact normally I always take 3-4 watches with me !

By: hs111 : July 8th, 2018-09:14
.. Only when it’s just 1 day, just One gets the nod : Mostly the Batman Rolex GMT, or the GP Gde Date, GMT, Moonphase. Best, hs

Owning only a single Travel Time watch...

By: saso : July 5th, 2018-14:30
.. but I also kinda need only one as it can dress down or up (not as good though), can handle every kind of weather fairly well and can keep time quite accurately. So no surprise that that my trusty 5164A did a good job during a leisure trip throughout Ja...

Aha!

By: TheMadDruid : July 6th, 2018-03:31
I assumed it was the Angels or Dodgers. Ain't you from out that way?

Second one in a row...

By: KMII : July 5th, 2018-22:45
But then again it would make for a fine travel companion, so no surprises here Great baseball game shot, too!

Spectacular travelogue.

By: TheMadDruid : July 6th, 2018-03:36
You know, there's something about that first Zodiac that seems so appropriate for traveling in Afrique. It has an aura about it, and it looked perfect in your Morocco shots. To me it was made for that trip; that or for doing naughty things in the Bay Area...

All but Maroc in last 15 months,

By: nomadgiles : July 7th, 2018-17:01
but did 2 visits there in 2016 so due another soon - it’s one of my favourite countries. There’s also been work in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Nantes & Dublin plus London trips every month, sometimes twice - always some pleasures involved too ;-)

Wow wow wow Giles! Absolutely agree with your sayings and what a photographic parade you posted here! Awesome!

By: Subexplorer : July 8th, 2018-06:44
Nice to have so many options to have on the wrist when traveling! Tough choice to make if faced with selecting just one of them! Hagwe my friend! Abel

Would love to...

By: KMII : July 6th, 2018-21:51

You've got it covered.

By: TheMadDruid : July 6th, 2018-05:46

The beauty of this one...

By: KMII : July 6th, 2018-08:29
Is that it allows travel on the wrist, even if you stay put. Great shot!

Two or is it three options

By: jml_watches : July 6th, 2018-06:58
First two are Reverso Duo - two timezones one for each face, so no confusion 😁 Or of course there's the Seiko five, robust dependable & unlikely to attract any attention Cheers JML ...

My MB&F LM1 is great for travel too

By: Hororgasm : July 6th, 2018-11:27
The LM1 with dual time timing, is good for travel too....one for home time, and another for local. Easy to set too, and can do half and quarter hours, great for those visiting the Indian sub continent for example. Best, Horo Hororgasm for PPro ...

Simply wonderful!

By: TheMadDruid : July 6th, 2018-16:01
In order: I like the old Leica case; the Leica; the Rolex; the coke sign; the Seiko; and the photographs. But that's it.

Two fantastic choices, Abel!

By: KMII : July 6th, 2018-21:56
Thanks for your kind words - while I am still thinking of the Montblanc 1858 Geospheres, the GS is being packed for the next journey Two great choices of yours, too! Definitely fully fit for purpose travel wise and looking really cool at the same time

And you dear Abel!

Btw - my extended family of old was based in Argentina (and Uruguay) during 30’s & 40’s setting up first diesel electric generators. Up until the 80’s they where still going - I wonder if they are now? The engines where made in Manchester by Lister Blacks...

By: nomadgiles : July 10th, 2018-01:54
My uncle (now in his 80's), and who's parents where based there during WW2 (as a 6yo boy he saw the Graf Spee leave Montevideo), was the last member of the family to work for the company - he would travel to B Aires and conduct meetings from the airport a...

Ahh yes dear Giles!! We say here: "el mundo es un pañuelo" (the world is like a handkerchief) in these cases. World is so small its true!...

By: Subexplorer : July 10th, 2018-12:38
... Interesting to know about your roots and the coincidence with my knowledge of the Lister firm here! Yes, most probably your uncle and my friend have met! Glad to read you my friend! Mis mejores deseos para ti también!! All the best, Abel.

Thanks Padj!

By: jporos : July 6th, 2018-18:29
It's a Tutima FX UTC. I like that I can track three different timezones with this one watch. Believe it or not, that came in handy!

Yes, since 6 years now. In reality my sister got it now.

By: tombub : July 7th, 2018-07:04
A thin case, a good diameter, a cool complication, a nice black dial with red touchs. A lovely watch !

Reminds me of an Alec Guinness classic, . . .

Seiko World Time, 1964

By: matthewking : July 8th, 2018-06:08
Seiko was the official time keeper for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. They created two World Time watches (6217-7000) to commemorate the Games: one with a grey dial and one with a white dial. These were only produced for that '64 calendar year. White Dial glam ...

Both are fantastic, Matt!

By: KMII : July 8th, 2018-09:45
