You often hear someone lament something like "too much empty space, like a billboard", to which I often just think, "yes, yes it is. lovely". Everyone sees something a little different in life, as in horology, and I'm really come to appreciate this particular design aspect; and as you and Spangles said, the guilloche on a large expanse really draws the eye in and shows off the craftsmanship

The 5727 indeed has much charme and with this open dial a certain … generosity. It attracts me more than the 5717. What do you think of the Breguet Musicale which falls in the same category? It’s still on my wishlist. And of course my IWC Minute Repeater ...

The negative space, something it took me years to evolve too, is definitely a look I’m drawn to now. As Spangles said, the guilloche brings a lot to that negative space.
