Panerai officially releases the PAM577 today - 48mm Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramic

May 29, 2015,15:27 PM

This new Panerai PAM577 is a regular production 48mm Radiomir 1940 with a black ceramic case and uses the same stick baton dial found on the limited edition 47mm PAM449 Radiomir SLC from 2012.

I guess you can call it a black'ed out Radiomir 1940 version of the PAM449 with a SLC on the dial at 6 o'clock.  Take notice that it's 1mm larger at 48mm.

In the below picture, you can see the smoked rear sapphire back.  The P.3000 movement isn't black PVD'ed if you're wondering.  Panerai did the shortcut and just smoked the rear sapphire to achieve the black look.

To me, it's an unusual combination because of the baton dial, SLC, and a ceramic Radiomir 1940 case.  I think I prefer the Radiomir 1940 case to be in stainless steel or precious metals instead of this sporty ceramic case.

What are your thoughts on this PAM577 ceramic Radiomir 1940?

Cheers,
Anthony

Yes, I am like you, Anthony. I prefer the normal dial.

Therefore the SLC on the dial makes it look like a toy. No, not for me. But I am sure it will find its fans. Best, Nicolas

It is a rather "catchy" piece....

there's no denying that. It will appeal to the "ceramicos" faction of the brand, with its exotic/schwartze "soul" :-) The piece could do without the pig on the dial but I guess they like their "pigs" in Neuchatel. Now the proud owners af a 292J, can compl...

That "pig" !!!

Can't it be torpedoed and sunk into the deep ocean...and therefore forgotten forever. Any Panerai would be better without it. Except that, i like this 577. HAGWE Fabio
