Rolex 2533: Finally, the documents are being shown.

Dec 26, 2011,01:32 AM

I have known the existence of those documents since 2004.

I also know they re surfaced in 2010, Maria Panerai's hidden treasures.

Those documents have proved, even to the most knoweldgeable Panerai Enthusiasts, that it was the watch model that was tendered by the Marina Militare from GP Figli ( we told you that there were more than one figlio in the Family smile )

The 2533 was in fact replaced by the 3646 which offered water resistency ( better water resistency ).

It is anyhow a very desirable piece, RARE, and highly valuable.

Jake has kindly reported these documents:

If you pay attention to the date on the first document, which is an invoice from Rolex to Panerai, we now can definitely say that the 2533 was issued in 1936.

I would like to thank POY, who is the one who discovered, in 2004, during a conversation with Maria Panerai, the proof that the 2533 was indeed related to Guido Panerai.

Then, I am very happy that those documents are seeing the light, after such a long time.

Best,

Nicolas.

I disbelieved the existence of this ‘Panerai’ Watch

 By: PoyFR : December 26th, 2011-04:16
For about a decade, I disbelieved the relation between Rolex and Panerai for the model 2533. I had asked several times all my acquaintances at Panerai in Firenze (Executives and employees), each time the response was the same; We do not know this model, t...

I will save this thread, if you don't mind, POY.

Of ours, throught these scans. The Date is important, too, as the 2533 was falsely dated to 1935 or 1937, from what I read here and there. Now, we have some proves. Best, Nicolas.

Interestingly I just finished reading Jake's report on the documents

for the wonderful info. It certainly adds an important dimension to the history of the brand and I can't wait for the stainless steel version to come out. My only fear is compared to the original 2533/PAM373 , how much would the SS version loose out in ae...

Black dial + Solid Case Back, a winning combo.

 By: amanico : December 29th, 2011-03:35
If I'm pretty sure that they will release the SS 1533 ( Pam 374? ) with a black dial, I doubt they will go for the solid case back. I may be positively surprised, but I doubt it... For one reason... " Did you see, we put an " in house " movement! " But we...
