As a Striking Time Owner...
I've been able to handle the new Zeitwerk date and for me, I much prefer the Striking Time, which is fortunate, as that's what I already own
If you need a date on your watch then the Zeitwerk Date is the watch you'd want, but if you like the idea of a chiming watch, then I much prefer the Striking or Decimal Strike versions. I don't love the date ring myself, and while I understand their reasons for the ring on the Zeitwerk, to me it makes the watch a little busy (you see every number digit and yet only one is relevant, so to me, it's a little too much).
I do prefer the date over the standard Zeitwerk however, as I find the standard Zeitwerk a little plain... which is what drew me to the Striking Time in the first instance, as the black polished hammers look incredible and provide great balance to the dial.
They are big watches, but I don't view the Zeitwerk range as a dress watch. If you want a Lange dress watch you look at the Richard Lange or 1815 ranges, and perhaps the simpler Saxonia pieces.
