Its undoubtly a larger watch n you certainly have the wrist for it. A couple of questions if I may, 1. How does this increase in size weigh in your asseesment of Zenith and it evolution ? The El Primero is definitely not a large mvt (one of the best, if n... 

About the size/weigh: Is a trend and there is nothing that we can do. Other day I took some wrist shots from a 60's/70's Universal chronos and they feel weird with those 36/38mm. 44mm is the new standard. I believe that the size increase is here to stay, ...

Bill, A good start about Zenith is the book Zenith: Swiss Watch Manufacture Since 1865 [Hardcover] / Manfred Rossler (Editor) I believe that all major brands should have a good "bible" like this one. Cheers, Nilo

My only concern is that the subdials are a bit overlaped by the bottom one, a classic problem with Zenith... Great pics and write-up, thanks Nilo! Fx

I see this as a compromise, based on the movement size. Two options: a) Overlapped dials, the Zenith style. b) Maintain the sub dials original size, like GP did on many chronographs (the WW:TC is a good example). At the end, I decided that I can live with... 

now you make me doubt even more. I think I want or I think I need a 1/10th ... but I honestly don't know if I want the 1969 or the Stratos. Removing rhe end links was a nice idea, it looks better without these links. But on the other hand I would buy one ... 

The Stratos seems to be a better fit. I had the Stratos 1/10th as an option but I was cutting corners to fit my budget and I got the Fly Back. I'm waiting for the goods that Zenith should be showing in Basel. Cheers, Nilo

Congratz for your jump ... toward Earth ... and toward this Zenith. I was impressed when you wrote " the Stratos is the best built Zenith watch that I ever strapped on my wrist " I know your love and knowledge about Zenith watches and this is impressing. ...

Thanks for this. I was googling for a strap for my Zenith Stratos exactly because I am fighting with the deployment buckle. It doesn't work with me. The idea of removing the metal part is great!! Now I will be able to use it more often... Such a great wat...

Congratulations for your (first?) Zenith El Primero. About the 23mm strap, is not a common size but I was able to source two options in 23mm. Check your personal messages. I'm sending one place where I got one. Cheers, Nilo

Thanks! Yes it was my first Zenith. I have only recently caught the watch bug. This is my second automatic watch, and first with a nice in-house movement. My only other nice watch is a Breitling Steelfish that I bought two years ago. Once I picked that up... 

This week I bought a 22 mm handmade alligator strap. In reality the strap was 22.6 mm. I asked the supplier: please stretch the strap a little bit .....it fit. The 0.1 mil gap - what are you talking about - I don't see any more.... So see a strap supplier...  

Is to squeeze a 24mm strap into the 23mm space. I do this all the time with 20mm straps into 19mm lugs. Cheers, Nilo

Bobbe - That's good advice. Thanks, I know from your picture and from reading your forum posts that like Nilo, you took the metal end pieces off. It's hard to tell how much of a gap there is between the strap and the case by just looking at the pictures. ... 

But... the gap is bothering me less than the end-links. Just remove them and have a look yourself.
