Omg! When I bought my Grand Seiko SLGA021, I actually bought it thinking

what watch would I need in case of a zombie apocalypse or civilizational collapse. First here is the watch




This is an old picture because the watch is in the safe, but I was thinking of making a post about it explaining to other members why this watch was my choice for a zombie apocalypse. Why you say?

Because on a zombie apocalypse you need a tool that you can trust and this watch is exactly that. Let me explain.

First of all, this watch is what marine chronometers were once was, it is not only accurate but also precise. Say you had to set sail because the place you reside is infested with zombies and you need to go to an island or somewhere else, there are no machines working, so you have to pinpoint your exact location using a watch and a sextant. My watch is +1s a month, and I know that this will not change, why? Because unlike mechanical watches with a balance wheel, the spring drive has a glide wheel, which is not affected by gravity or friction. The glide wheel is in its place thanks to magnets which brake its turn 256 times in a second, if the speed is not right, the IC unit changes the speed of the wheel, thanks to this technology, unlike mechanical watches that change accuracy in different positions due to gravity and friction, the spring drive measures the time exactly the same in every position.

Any other quartz watch can do the same you say? True, but only for a limited time, every quartz watch has a battery or capacitor which have a life of 6 to 10 years, the spring drive, since it’s mechanical and very very low friction, theoretically could last for a lifetime, as far as I remember our dear member Cazalea owns more then 20 year old and never serviced spring drive watches that are as accurate as their first day.

Now add to these technical feats 100m water resistance in a steel case and bracelet for everyday tasks, NO lume and a completely silent working mechanism because you never know when you need to hide in the dark from the zombies, well you have a perfect tool in your hands for the end of civilization.
