from what I read about it...

at first it was more an observation of Huygens @ 2 pendulam clocks hanged on the same structure syncing themselves...which lead eventually led him to study more (though he didn't conclude 'resonance'. so always double resonance (you need 2 objects at leas... a snapshot the full picture !
