Hi - i'm new to this forum and having some trouble picking a dress watch. which one would you pick out of these two? Looking for a relatively thin, 38-40mm dress watch. Thanks

From my side, aesthetically speaking I prefer the Vacheron. From a technical point of view the Jaeger. All depends on what’s more important for you. Best wishes Alkiro

Aesthetically the VC is a much nicer watch; the year function on the JLC is not good at all. Also, the little details on the VC make it an easy choice over the JLC.

but I believe Mike H was suggesting that both ideas should be ditched for a basic vintage Calatrava which is a more attractive and quality proposition. Different but something to consider in that price range

On the other hand this is only my opinion. Both proposed options are certainly nice contenders also. Like many others aesthetically speaking I prefer the VC, but a PC is of course a higher complication. For the JLC PC I like the black dial a lot (with ros... 

I am terribly biased as I would always a choose a Patek if it was in the price range. Better a simple Patek than a complicated competitor but again that is only my opinion.

Perpetuals are great but the looks of this new VC is simply stunning. And it wears really well for 40mm ...  

So it’s worked pretty smoothly to switch over from Dec to January. I’m sure it will be easy enough to grab a wooden toothpick and advance to March 1 come feb 28th. The pusher buttons were pretty easy to use when I set the watch originally.

The only aesthetic about the V-C triple calendar is the thin minute hand.

Apart from the complications they are also quite thick (well the VC looks quite thick). I like simplicity and slimness in a dress watch.
