Vacheron Constantin

Very interesting

i'm going to bring something up that might
have many disagreeing with me.  I got my start
in watches in the early 80's.  At that time, vintage
was all the rage.  Many pieces from the 60's and 70's
looked rather skimpy by comparison.  A collector
friend of mine made a comment that we're living
through the golden age of watchmaking right now.
I think he's right, in terms of technical development
and the rise of independents which give us many
opportunities to ooh and aah.  When I look at the
re-issue of the 1921, I don't see the fineness of manufacture as in
the original.  One other example, the Patek 5565 vs.
the 565.  No comparison in my book.  Again, I'm not talking
about technical improvements.  The aesthetics.
Why does the 6 intrude on the sub dial?  Things like
that.  Any opinions?
