Friends,
Another watch I had the pleasure to see at the Nyman’s Ur Watchout event, the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes De Vache 1955 in Pink Gold.
Classic, elegant, clean, beautiful, superb, …
There are many words that comes to mind when looking at this watch.
I find the combination of Pink Gold, “Claw” lugs, the two-register chronograph absolutely magnificent!
Same as I stated when we discussed the Historiques Triple Calendrier, my preference for this kind of watch is coloured gold.
The warm tone and contrast adds the “little extra” for me.
The applied indexes and thin time hands in matching gold makes the watch easy to read.
Hands, even if thin are not flat which helps the light catch them in a very nice and smooth way.
Chronograph hands in heated blue steel makes the chronograph also easy to read and to separate from the time hands.
Beautiful shaped lugs, the rounder bezel and the blue contrast colour for the Base 1000 scale add the vintage feel to this “Historiques”.
The wide Base scale and minute track absorbs the fact that the two sub-dials are located quite near to the centre.
I find the dial very balanced.
But this is not only a good-looking front, the back is as least as stunning!
Inside is the manual VC Calibre 1142, Hallmark of Geneva.
Case / Movement ratio 38.5mm / 27.5mm which gives a very nice view of this superbly finished movement.
On the wrist, the 38.mm case fits perfect on my wrist… The lugs make it wear a bit larger…
Unfortunately, the light was not the best but I think you still can see how nicely it plays over the bezel and lug shapes!
Best
