Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes De Vache 1955 in Pink Gold

Friends,

Another watch I had the pleasure to see at the Nyman’s Ur Watchout event, the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes De Vache 1955 in Pink Gold.

Classic, elegant, clean, beautiful, superb, …

There are many words that comes to mind when looking at this watch.

I find the combination of Pink Gold, “Claw” lugs, the two-register chronograph absolutely magnificent!

Same as I stated when we discussed the Historiques Triple Calendrier, my preference for this kind of watch is coloured gold.

The warm tone and contrast adds the “little extra” for me.

The applied indexes and thin time hands in matching gold makes the watch easy to read.

Hands, even if thin are not flat which helps the light catch them in a very nice and smooth way.

Chronograph hands in heated blue steel makes the chronograph also easy to read and to separate from the time hands.

Beautiful shaped lugs, the rounder bezel and the blue contrast colour for the Base 1000 scale add the vintage feel to this “Historiques”.

The wide Base scale and minute track absorbs the fact that the two sub-dials are located quite near to the centre.

I find the dial very balanced.

But this is not only a good-looking front, the back is as least as stunning!

Inside is the manual VC Calibre 1142, Hallmark of Geneva.

Case / Movement ratio 38.5mm / 27.5mm which gives a very nice view of this superbly finished movement.

On the wrist, the 38.mm case fits perfect on my wrist… The lugs make it wear a bit larger…

Unfortunately, the light was not the best but I think you still can see how nicely it plays over the bezel and lug shapes!

Best

Blomman

I must say this is a strong contender of being my first VC! Best Blomman

Platinum or Titanium with Black or White Enamel or Porcelain dial.

+1! The lugs are perfect, IMO! [nt]

for me, almost the best from VC, but the Les Historique Chrono is even better...Platinum and Salmon dial...hmmm

Absolutely right! [nt]

Beauty, yes. But even more so in the metal! Best Blomman

This really is a stunning watch.

I have been stalking the platinum version for a long time. The size is perfect. The lugs are amazing. Almost everything about it just works for me. The only problem is that the platinum is quite illegible and that is my priority. But this gold version has...

Legibility is one of the reasons I often prefer this kind of watch in coloured gold!

Yes, we all know and love Platinum, but often the PL version is rather cold and hard to read... Best Blomman

Oh man, it's soooooo good.

It really is. I'd take it over any other dress chrono it competes with, that's how head over heels I am for it.

That same day I saw another one....

Which also made my heart beat faster... Not sure which I prefer the most but both are strong contenders! Will post soon. Best Blomman

I understand your feelings about this watch.

It is a true beauty, though, as stated above, I prefer the slightly smaller Historiques. But when you are talking about purely "dress" chronographs you have to look at the CPCP Tortue MP; and the even rarer CPCP Tank MP. To me you can't get more sublime.

The Cornes de vache got me revisiting the illustrious history of VC

VC wasn't a brand I paid much attention to when starting out the collecting journey. A few of my older family members have been wearing simple VC dress pieces for as long as I could remember. It's why I didn't associate myself with the brand before. The C...

Congratulation on a absolutely stunning watch!

I think VC really opened the door to a new group of collectors with the Historiques line! Best Blomman

This isn't a watch I own yet, but hopefully it's just a matter of when.

Well done to VC for digging deep into its archive and finding such inspiration.
