I posted about a vintage VC with cal. K1072/1 a couple of weeks ago. Bill very helpfully provided the contact info of VC service. I called them and they informed me that it could take anywhere between 12-16months for the job and the watch would have to go...  

Did you really mean 12 to 16 months or weeks? What the heck would they be doing to it over the course of 12+ months? Just curious as it seems like an incredible amount of time to work on the watch.

Parts might need to be manufactured, etc. I agree, it does seem like a very long time, but from what I understand, Patek vintage service is similar.

and thank you for posting the photos of your watch. It looks to be in excellent condition. I'm surprised by the estimate for completing the work and hope they were being more than conservative. Anyway, I hope RGM takes good care of your watch and that it ...

My experience was the same. It took 4 months to get an estimate of 12 months to service a 1002 with no real issues. And the price they asked really turned me off the factory. I've used RGM several times to service vintage Vacherons and they do spectacular... 

I have been looking for a competent repairers/servicers for a while now for my Cal 1003 - who are RGM and can someone supply contact details,or a weblink ? Thanks alex

Hi, Stunning piece, thanks for sharing. About the service: I sent my ref 6782 to VC Geneva and had to wait about 10 months (estimate was like in your case at least 12 months). However, the watch is virtually as new now, see below. They did a wonderful job...

Hi, That is why I kept the original dial, that was quit nice as well btw, for originality purposes. If I were you, I would do the same if you ship your T-bird for service....;-) Best, Mark
