In any case, you’d wind it more with the finger touching the bottom of the crown (and rolling the bottom of the crown towards you) than your thumb on top of the crown.

its only a 6.75 ''' diameter of 15.70mm-so the barrel is very small-hence a thin small spring and 40 hr power reserve-FULLY WOUND. unscrew the case back and look at the winding motion for any visable problems and try 'thumb winding' .

The partially hooded crown was a design trade-off, looks good but difficult to live with. Can be frustrating but a serviced movement should optimize the ease of winding. Perhaps a chore I share with others, my spouse brings her manual watches to me to win...
