how is the rate accuracy on these?

There are a lot of other great competitors in the steel sports watch segment these days, but most of them still fall a bit short with respect to the finishing of the bracelet, case, and/or movement. The Overseas is one of the few options that is of equal,... 

But my heart lies with the gen 2 just a little bit more, only based on aesthetics. Technically and for value, the gen3 is it.

But I’m having serious hang ups over that arrow hand sticking out underneath like that, is it less noticeable in real life? I need someone to talk me through it before I get a 5524

I own both a 5524G and this VC Dual Time; I don’t feel there is much of a difference in aesthetics of the “hidden” hour hand, I actually like the touch of red of the VC dial. I wear both watches a lot, but the versatility of the VC with a steel bracelet, ...

Agreed, we can repeat the many nice details and great design elements. But let's stick to a great watch, wearable at every occasion, and very versatile.
