By The Numbers

A couple of fleabay "creations" are worthy of close examination IMHO. First is a most outrageous fake steel wristwatch. While the crude dial might turn you away immediately, its worth looking at the hodge-podge of case and movement numbers. Note the two d...

But Dean....

didn't you know that all watches from a certain period had sandpaper scratch finishing on the Geneva waves to go with mismatched plate and bridge numbers, symbolic of man's imperfection in God's beautiful Creation? Bill

LOL Bill, I thought you were gonna say...

 By: Tick Talk : May 17th, 2012-13:08
that all vintage V&C resembled vintage Rolex :-0

Boy, these are ugly!

The dial, the lugs, manual chrono - this is one of the nicest watches I have seen. Best, Kevin

This thread is more of a pig party than a beauty pagent, but you can always start another thread ;-) I know some old pros find this stuff distressing but I get half a dozen emails a day from newbie V&C collectors asking about authenticity.

Really?

Your VC collection is amazing! I didn't realize you had a 1921, too. And that blue dial is one we don't see very often. Ok, off to dreamland. Thanks. respo

You're a dangerous guy, Joe. ;) [nt]

That perpetual skeleton is AMAZING! Nice to see the two generations of Overseas automatics side-by-side. I look forward to seeing your next Overseas. Perhaps in yet a different color than blue or white...? Love the background sky of the Malte Moonphase. I...

I'm working on this problem!!! Thanks Joe

Is there a hyphen between Vacheron and & and & and Constantin?

 By: WHL : May 18th, 2012-20:06
Is there any other way to say "and" five times in a row and have it make sense? Have a great weekend! Bill...

That's what I'm talkin 'bout..

Can you tell us more about this beauty:...

You are right

 By: 4Js : May 19th, 2012-15:39
This is a home run Joe

I bought that beauty back in 2003/2004.....

 By: WHL : May 20th, 2012-18:58
Simply because I liked it. At that time I was not aware of the need to check case and movement serial numbers, so I have no idea if it is/was legit according to VC's archives, but it filled a desire for me to have a calibre 1019 auto in my collection, and...

Two questions

 By: 4Js : May 20th, 2012-19:18
Pardon my naïveté but are movements and cases getting scammed? Assuming all is normal, why did you choose not to wear it? It is a phenomenal beauty. Easily worn suit and Saturday night dinner. Thanks, Joe

Unfortunately.....

 By: WHL : May 20th, 2012-20:08
unscrupulous sellers are putting legit (and non-legit) parts together to make some convincing timepieces. If I saw this watch today I would make sure not only that the case and movement serial numbers matched, but also that the black dial, a somewhat rare...

Thanks
