It's very difficult but,
I am with you. In my opinion, I like both jump hours, and I really want badly the white gold Saltarello, as I think it is really a beautiful look and totally different than anything else. I could have gotten last year the rose gold version, at a reasonable price, but I wanted the white. And, the Mercator is a third look, plus having that beautiful enamel. The German and the America pieces are outstanding, but only 10 each are out there, making it very tough. Then, I really like the other look of the four windows, which are on the pieces which have only been sold in sets of four, which is just not doable for me. I really loved the mask piece. Finally, there is the current Mercator which is another strategy of telling time, but I saw that one new and in the flesh last month, and the price was very high. Plus it was in yellow gold, and I really wanted a white metal.
In the end, if I could get the Mercator, platinum, Americas or Germany, plus the white gold Saltarello, I would be very,. very, happy.

Your 2 Chronos + the 2 out of sight from the past are 4 very strong aces.

The Saltarello is cool, but, IMO, cannot compete with a Mercator.
But this is just my point of view, and the reflect of my indefective love for that watch... Biased? totally! And it is so good! Best, Nicolas.

Get both! If pressed, I agree with you, Nicolas, the Mercator is probably the one to get. It seems the more iconic example of VC's alternative time display watches. And I think the Saltarello is probably less to everyone's taste than the Mercator series. ...

i feel they do not belong as these pair are tribute to vintages. i view the malte chrono, though having art -decor fan lugs, as a more modern interpretation of a VC chrono, with a larger case and for the platinum model ,a beautifully finished blasted dial...
I concur... The Pt is outstanding. The dial is really something, and the
