I could really use a sharp, clean white gold dress watch like this VC 82172. But in reality, I would probably find myself wanting to wear it more often in casual situations. Is it possible to dress down a watch as formal looking as this with a brown strap...  

Perhaps try pairing with a light brown strap?

Though I think Patrimony is dressier than Reverso, so it may not be Apple to Apple ...  

I have an SS reverso duo that I also put on a light brown strap on occasion. I think the Arabic numerals, blued steel hands and the guilloche make it easier to dress down. But with the VC 82172g, despite the white gold in principle being easier to match w... 

I think a dark blue strap or even the default black strap is nice with jeans and tee shirts. A brown calf strap might dress it down further. Something like these watches I have. Especially those vintage looking straps with a bit of distress leather looks....

It is awesome and it will make the watch fit like a marvel with jeans for example or colored bermudas

... a suede leather strap, just like those Nomos uses. You don\'t want to go too casual since it would take away too much character from your beautiful Patrimony Traditionelle. Cheers Henrik

I don't actually have this VC 82172 in white gold yet. I used to have it in rose gold, but I traded it away for an FPJ Chronometre Bleu. I'm happy with the trade, but I desperately miss the VC 82172 now. I'm on a mission to get another one soon, but this ... 

The CB and this VC, either in rose gold or the black one in platinum, are two I've been looking at. I'd be interested in your thoughts about the two. A shot of my white Habring on a brown ostrich strap: ...  

If I had to pick just one watch, it would be hard, but I would go with the CB. It\'s just too unique to pass up. If you have a collection for the sake of appreciating the horological, then this is a watch that should be in it. Having said that, if you onl... 

Yes, the FPJ CB would be easier to dress down, since it is already less dressy, but I'm actually shooting for something in between. The VC on black strap is like tuxedo/formal business dress. I want to turn the VC into a camel hair sportcoat smart busines...

But it seems like people will put a NATO strap on anything these days, including dress watches. Who knows, it could actually work ...  

No less a formal watch in many respects. I say keep your favorite strap on it and wear it all the attitude that comes with putting on a watch you love. But probably don't so kite surfing with it.

Look what I tried with this Breguet 3490 once (Did get a lot of crap for this on here though ...
