But this also illustrates one of the reasons why I ended with the A.L&S 1815 Up/Down: the minute hand is too thin and too easily confused with the date pointer to allow rapid reading of the time.


Shame. It is a very nice model, with a very interesting case and lugs.

This one is a wonderful model, I love the warmth of the dial and case but... I prefer the drop lugs of the 1942. Both are very nice versions anyhow. I am usually not fond of re-edition of vintage models but I must admit that both 1948 and 1942 versions ar... 

I agree as well on the 1942 version looking a little better..........
