1921 with straight spring bar?

 By: Ping.Timeout : June 21st, 2022-09:29
Hey folks. Finally i have found straps i wanted to purchase, however they come only in straight spring bar. I understand that the 1921 uses slightly curved bar. Any idea if strap with straight bar would fit? I have the 36.5mm version. ...

Order some curved spring bars …

personally would only fit the original specification spring bars. They were specified for a reason.

Have you been successful inserting a curved pin into a straight pin designed strap?

On my side I was not able to so ending up ordering strap just for my VC…

Yes…

But it depends on the thickness and texture of the strap.

good to know. I have not been able to so far!

While I don’t have your reference, my traditionnelle VC also has curved pins and can only work with curved pins

I tried fitting some of my straight pins strap on it and it won’t work because the pins are too close to the case. I suspect it is the same for yours. Have your strap custom made by a strap artisans which can make them to accept curved pins

That is likely the best course of action indeed!

In strap changes while minimally scratching the lugs!

I believe the experts here can help

Me = newbie

Well, I am no expert either but I do change them quite a bit! I won't say I never scratch a watch but here are a few tips that helped me...

Since I order all my strap customer made, I always order them with quick release pins which require no tool to change - easy enough! When I do have a watch with a standard strap on it which I need to remove, I use the black strap tool (see picture). Now t...

Are the holes in the lugs also angled with the trajectory of the curved pin?

I have been tempted to get curved pins and a curved thick strap for a Geophysic, which has a gap between the case and the strap even at the centre of the case, but so far remained cautious.

I think it depends on the watch...

I think it is best to continue to use as intended by the manufacturer.

yeah I would agree here

I was curious to i checked the VC and JLC holes, they are similar in terms of angle. Others may be different.

Many thanks

I have the other tools, not the black one. What is the name of it? It seems very helpful. I hate the metal Bergeron on my iwc or vc where the strap is very thick/ low compliance. I also have horotech screwdriver makes link removal easy! I also don't get w...

You can find the black one in several places as it seems to be a tool that rebranded...for example...

Hodinkee has this tool branded as their own, and other various straps maker online.

What is the material of that one?

I have the 40mm with curved straps/quick release, so I ordered curved, custom-made strap

Etsy is a website where craftspeople all over the world make and sell custom-made straps, etc. Before I ordered, I asked the seller if he could make curved straps, like the OEM strap in the pic that i sent him. He said yes. I ordered the strap on June 1, ...
