For me the more interesting question ...
.. is the authenticity and originality of the dial design because the refinishing of the dial could be a necessary step within the service procedure. Do not misunderstand me, I definitely don't ask for refinished dials. But if you have a severe humidity/corrosion problem or a damage like scratches or lost indexes, or even a badly refinished dial, why not fix it with a decent repair? As long as you stay close to the original it is just a little annoying compared to looking every day at a defect, dilettante or bogus dial.
But if you change the original design you have no more originality left, because the company never intended to sell the watch like this.
