Vacheron Asymmetric 1972 winding
Nov 22, 2023,16:23 PM
Hi all
I just received my Vacheron Constantin Asymmetric 1972 watch with ref. 37010. I bought it pre-owned.
I’m wondering how to wind the watch as the crown is almost completely inside the watch? I can only glide the crown from a tiny angle. When I do so, it glides a little forward until I release my finger, then the crown glides back to the original position. When I pull the crown, the hands move as in all manual watches. Is there a special trick how to wind the watch? Should I wind it anticlockwise? It seems to move anticlockwise but I’m afraid to do so.. Or is the watch just broken?
Thanks for help!

its only a 6.75 ''' diameter of 15.70mm-so the barrel is very small-hence a thin small spring and 40 hr power reserve-FULLY WOUND. unscrew the case back and look at the winding motion for any visable problems and try 'thumb winding' .

The partially hooded crown was a design trade-off, looks good but difficult to live with. Can be frustrating but a serviced movement should optimize the ease of winding. Perhaps a chore I share with others, my spouse brings her manual watches to me to win...
