Depends on your level of "fake"

May 06, 2018,17:42 PM

Hi again.

The dial looks like it was cleaned and some of the original text was "cleaned" too much, causing some deterioration. The hour markers look like they have been re-applied and the holes behind some of them are enlarged (they were definitely not visible when the dial originally left the factory). I think the dial itself is original VC, but cleaned and some attempt to "repair/restore"...and is this dial original to this watch when it was first sold (that's the difficult part without checking with VC).

The movement is also an original VC movement (and so is the case). So all the major components are original VC, but did these components originally leave the factory with the attention of being assembled into one watch. The "VXN" imported movement makes this even more difficult to ascertain without checking with VC's Heritage Dept.

These are just some of the complexities with collecting vintage VCs. It goes from one extreme of 100% authentic and untouched, to 100% fake (with nothing made by VC), to a combination of everything in between. Only you can decide what is acceptable to you, some accept restored or otherwise imperfect dials while others do not. But the dial itself is not necessarily a fake.

Hope this helps?

If you haven't bought it, don't. If you have, dispose of it. There are plenty of very good vintage V&Cs in the world from reputable sellers.

Appreciate your advice . I won`t buy it.
